To expand further, digital art needs a framework, a fitting place to exhibit and show off its potential. This is Gate22’s ambition : promote and popularise this artform with the public by creating a unique museum space. Forget what you know, shake up your references and open your eyes. Thanks to virtual reality, digital art is reaching its full potential. VR takes the public at the heart of artistic creations, offering a unique immersive experience. In the same way a physical work of art is enhanced within a physical space, digital art is transcended by virtual reality.

Because the artist’s first right is to be able to make a living from his art

Artists are at the heart of digital art. All artists need to be able to make a living from their art and enjoy an environment that’s conducive to creativity where they can show off their work. Part of Gate22’s mission statement is to offer digital artists such an environment. Centered around a diverse community of creatives, artists will enjoy the best conditions to present their current work and produce future ones. We want Gate22 to become a virtuous circle that fosters artistic production as a whole.

Because a parallel world is better explored with a guide

Gate 22 will be your guide as you delve into the unknown throughout your visit. Before discovering this new world, our human guides will explain how your experience will unfold. During your immersion you will continue to be accompanied by a digital guide which is a fully integrated part of the exhibition. At the end a lounge space has been created to let the visitor unwind from the experience and share with other participants. Gate22 gives you complete freedom to create your own visit alone or shared with others.

Because when it is guided the public becomes actor of its own experience

Live art differently. Live art freely. This is Gate22’s aim through the medium of these exhibitions. Members of the public are being invited to immerse themselves into the artworks. Gone are the days when the visitor is nothing but an observer moving from one piece of art to the next in a contemplative state. Here visitors become explorers, even actors of their own experience. Accompanied in this new artistic experience, the visitor can be free to appreciate art differently.

Because we dream of a museum without borders nor limits

Gate22’s exhibitions have the gift of ubiquity : nomad by nature, they can be hosted in several places at once around the world. They are truly without borders. Gate22 will generate international artistic collaborations and will broadcast in many places and countries. As VR technology becomes more affordable and more wide spread, everyone will soon be able to enjoy these exhibitions from the comfort of their own home.

Because we support a project of a museum that is open and green

The museum of digital arts is polymorphous : it can adapt to its environment and the physical constraints of any location. This ‘green’ museum does not require much wall space and the cost of transporting digital artworks is low. Accessibility is key to engage with multiple audiences, from remote populations, to people with accessibility issues, to the elderly or the very young. Exhibitions can truly be held everywhere. So come on in, it’s open.

The exhibitions Gate22 will organise aim to bring together multi disciplinary artists, bringing together architects, sculptors, videographers, musicians and many others. With virtual reality spatial and physical constraints no longer exist. Everything becomes possible. Bringing together seven art forms under one roof ? This is not a dream.

Visiting Gate22’s exhibitions is to enjoy a new immersive experience every time. The museum will reinvent itself as new exhibitions and works of arts come in, like so many new virtual worlds to be explored. This sense of renewed novelty will encourage visitors to take ownership of digital art.

Because what is virtual today will become real tomorrow

Gate22 is ambitious. Our ambition is only measured by the limitless potential digital art will offer tomorrow. Gate22 will be a next generation museum based on transparency and involvement. Public involvement on the one hand, who will be invited to vote on the themes they would like to see explored, and artists‘ involvement on the other. Artists will be involved in creating and curating future exhibitions. Together we will be able to give digital art its rightful place. It is up to us now to build these new worlds and the digital artistic heritage of tomorrow.
